It is always exciting when a new book comes out. There is this terrible temptation to rush to every store in the neighbourhood (and further afield) to make sure your novel is there, to perhaps catch someone in the act of buying it or looking at it.
When my first book The Rake's Inherited Courtesan, came out with Mills and Boon last June, I was in Kent and went to Bluewater to the two bookstores there, Smiths and Waterstones. I put bookmarks in every book they had. I kept wondering if anyone would notice that when they bought the book.
Purchasers were probably more interested in the free bag that went along with the purchase of two books. Anyway I was so thrilled, I had my sister-in-law take my picture sitting on the floor proudly pointing to my books. If you want to see it, you can take a peek at my blog, Regency Rambles http://www.regencyrambles.blogspot.com. Laugh all you want. Writers have simple pleasures and no shame.
Sadly, this year, I won't be doing that. I won't be in Britain until May or June, so I won't get to see my book on the shelves in the UK. Therefore I will be pestering my relatives to go and see if it is in their local bookstore.
If you see it, let me know, then I can stop worrying! If you send me a picture by email and yours is first, I'll send you a Jane Austen pen that travelled all the way from Bath to Canada and is ready to fly across the Atlantic once more.
Still excited!
