We had a very laidback American 4th of July planned here. My dh, a cop, had to work the fireworks, the kids had plans, and while I was invited out, I opted to stay home with the dogs (who do not like all the commotion) and read a book...one of eHarlequin's own, Kate Walkers. That was the plan. But after lunch, my dh said, let's go for a bike ride. You know, in addition to keeping Erie safe, the man is always full of great ideas.
So, we tossed the bikes in the truck and headed down to the bayfront.
The Brig Niagra had left it's museum dock and was out on the bay, it's sails full and absolutely beautiful! We road along the bayfront, enjoying the views.
You know, I talk about how much I love Erie a lot...and many of you question why when you see our snow in the middle of winter. But this is why...it's so completely beautiful here!

Our bayfront used to be very industrial, but in recent years, its begun to become

much more tourist friendly. Our new convention center (can you see that it's shaped like a ship in this pic?), the Bicentennial Tower... And after we'd left, the Brig Niagra (from the Battle of Lake Erie) led a boat parade on the bay. Later that night, the fireworks were launched from the bay.
It was a lovely outing! My dh knows me oh-so well. We road from the bayfront, to the westside of town's Frontier Park, then back!
Hoping you all had a great weekend, too!
